The often overlooked Nissan Maxima has just become more attractive. Hornsby Nissan has cut the mid-range ST by $6,519, bringing it to $36,990 drive-away.

Standard ST features include dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, climate control air-conditioning, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, luxury trim and woodgrain finish and full power equipment.

The third-generation Maxima, launched in December 1999 with a refined 157 kW all-alloy 3.0-litre V6 and four-speed automatic, has won wide acclaim for its silky performance.

The Maxima is Australia's fourth most popular prestige car, despite losing some sales momentum last year. A minor facelift and equipment upgrade last September left prices unchanged.

The ST gained a six-stack in-dash CD player, a handy trip computer, updated cruise control, new five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Hornsby Nissan has cut the 1.6-litre Pulsar LX sedan by $3292. The manual five-speed has been reduced to $19,490 drive-away, the auto to $21,290 drive-away.
